Porta's Listen...The Monocle Weekly - Edition 17



With piracy at the forefront of international politics (and featured on the cover of our current issue), this week we speak to Monocle's Nairobi correspondent, Steve Bloomfield, about how events are developing in the region. The godfather of branding, Wally Olins, is with us in the studio to give us a colourful lesson on nation branding and reveals how brand Baltic is holding up in the downturn. Richard Wilkinson is on the line to discuss the success of his latest book, The Spirit Level - a timely call to action to combat the rich/poor divide in unsettled times. Editor Andrew Tuck dials in on is way back from interviewing the prime minister of Estonia and there's the usual comment and culture from host Tyler Brûlé, who is joined by our design editor Sarah Balmond ahead of her trip to the Salone del Mobile in Milan this week.
