— Joe Hisaishi Joe Hisaishi (born December 6, 1950), is a composer and director known for over 100 film scores and solo albums dating back to 1981. While possessing a stylistically distinct sound, Hisaishi’s music has been known to explore and incorporate different genres, including minimalist, experimental electronic, European classical, and Japanese classical. Lesser known are the other musical roles he plays; he is also a typesetter, author, arranger, and head of an orchestra. He is best known for his work with animator Hayao Miyazaki, having composed many scores for many of his films including Spirited Away (2001), Howl’s Moving Castle (2004), Princess Mononoke (1997), My Neighbor Totoro (1988), and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984).
He is also recognized for the soundtracks he has provided for filmmaker ‘Beat’ Takeshi Kitano, including Dolls (2002), Kikujiro (1999), Hana-bi (1997), Kids Return (1996), and Sonatine (1993). Beirut's Zach Condon has always seemed like a songwriter lost on an eternal gap year – his recorded output has journeyed through eastern Europe (2006's Gulag Orkestar), Paris (2007's The Flying Club Cup) and Mexico (2009's March of the Zapotec EP). But unlike most gap years, the discoveries have been more satisfying than a dodgy bracelet and some rug you'll never unfurl. Condon's third full-length album is the first that doesn't come specifically geo-tagged – rather, the focus here is on his oft-underrated melodies. The Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt is the obvious reference point, a comparison encouraged by Condon's sonorous vocals. Brass still figures largely, but it's not always centre stage: Goshen digs its foundation with solitary piano, whereas Santa Fe embraces a lo-fi electropop sound. When Condon does bring out the reinforcements, such as on the stunning East Harlem, the impact is greater for his previous restraint. It's less flashy than previous efforts, but the thrill here is of witnessing a songwriter's talent maturing.

— James Iha James Yoshinobu Iha (井葉吉伸, Iha Yoshinobu or ジェームス・イハ born March 26, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois, USA) is a Japanese American rock musician and runway model. He is most famous as the rhythm guitarist in the highly successful alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. In 1998, Iha released a moderately successful solo album, Let It Come Down, his only solo effort to date. One music video was produced from this album, for the song Be Strong Now, which was also released as a four-track single. Q, Manic Street Preachers and Columbia Records are proud to announce a very special edition of Q’s 25th Anniversary issue featuring an exclusive vinyl edition featuring twelve tracks taken from the forthcoming Manic Street Preachers album ‘National Treasures-The Complete Singles’ released 31st October.
The album, ‘National Treasures – The Selected Singles’ features exclusive new cover artwork and a previously unreleased track, the John Cale cover ‘The Endless Plain Of Fortune’ that is exclusive to this album. This limited edition run of Q will be a Manic Street Preachers cover - not available anywhere else.
The vinyl/magazine package is a strictly limited edition and will only be available from www.qthemusic.com from 27th September and in selected WHS High Street Stores for £12.99 from the 13th October.
The album features a track listing chosen especially for the vinyl by Nicky Wire from the band and Q Editor In Chief Paul Rees.
Of the unique collaboration, Paul Rees Commented “I can think of no better way to mark Q's 25th anniversary than by producing this special issue in tandem with the Manics. They're one of the bands intrinsically woven into the fabric of Q's history.
