The PORTASTYLE
GUIDE
“Autumn Outfitters”
Travelling Light!

Recently I have been sort of enamored by the British brand Toast. To be honest I wasn’t too familiar with the company, but the more I look at it the more I like what I see. I especially enjoyed this orange anorak jacket which I am seriously considering buying. I also am fond of the variety of accessories that Toast has done for fall. The wonderful wool blankets from Canadian maker MacAusland’s Woolen Mills, the flannel “hottie” covers, the Dietz storm lanterns, the chunky knit socks and the awesome glassware (like the bedside flask that is pictured below). Granted the brand is mostly womens and I don’t know if a guy should be wandering around town with a flannel-covered hot water bottle, but I appreciate the aesthetic. That or I am just a sucker for an orange anorak. [Toast]
Because all * you need to get by in Singapore are…
…t-shirts and vests: cotton or silk from various Chinese makers…
…and shorts: old Levi’s, new Levi’s & Stussy, old English, old French.
But because I am vain/going to Tokyo/vain/attending a wedding/vain…
…here are some white and ecru things…
…and blue things too.
A reversible coat for Tokyo, two looks in one!
My suit for flying: don’t underestimate the importance of looking co-ordinated at all times.
My kit for swimming: again, don’t underestimate the importance of looking co-ordinated at all times.
The dressing, the extras **: indigo “scarf”, mohair shrug, big cat gloves, necklace, fan, two belts, socks and leggings mainly in grey.
Visvim, Visvim, Nike, Jil Sander.
My top three tips for travelling light:
1. You probably need less than you think you do.
2. So bring less than you think you need.
3. Rainbow-coloured shoes go with everything.
* Everything is crumpled because Mum is doing the ironing!
** Oh, the bags, I forgot all about the bags!
