LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:
I met J.Crew CEO Mickey Drexler many moons ago in a former life when he was living on the west Coast and I was editing another magazine. We hooked up again early last year when we ran a story in Monocle that suggested Mickey should be in charge of Brand USA for the new administration, and he picked up the phone and rang me in London. A couple of weeks later I was meeting with Mickey in New York and was soon introduced to the rest of the J.Crew team, including Creative Director Jenna Lyons and Frank Muytjens, head of men's design. Shortly after (in a matter of hours) we were stocking Monocle in the Tribeca J.Crew Liquor Store and there was considerable discussion about further collaborations.
After a cocktail party or two, Jenna became smitten with our editorial team and suggested the idea of sending her crew to London to do a day-in-the-life shoot at Monocle HQ. In between, I took Jenna off to Tokyo for a little retail safari and we hosted a pre-Christmas party for Monocle subscribers at the men's store at 484 Broadway in New York. And just before Christmas, Team J.Crew descended on our London office to snap a few of our guys in their key spring looks. This is, by far, Monocle's most exciting collaboration to date.
Q&A WITH:

ASSISTANT TO THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF >
WHAT DO YOU DO AT MONOCLE ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIC?.
Find new ways that allow Tyler to be in two places at the same time-negotiating a flight itinerary that enables him to visit five cities in five days and planning a meeting schedule to match. Wear my diplomatic hat to fend off feisty PRs and plan the line-up for our weekly radio podcast, The Monocle Weekly.

Q&A WITH:
Andrew Tuck EDITOR >
WHAT DO YOU DO AT MONOCLE ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIC?.
I have a simple task as editor of the magazine: make sure we commission great stories. But luckily there are typical days. I have spent today making our audio show, The Monocle Weekly, in Milan, New York and also Tokyo, trying to spring a correspondent from a despot's jail and filming an interview with the prime minister of Estonia - and sitting at my desk for a 12-hour stretch reading a pile of proofs.

SECTION EDITOR, CULTURE >
WHAT DO YOU DO AT MONOCLE ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIC?.
I edit the culture section of Monocle, so after the issue starts to fall into place, correspondents have been dispatched to far-flung climes and I've sifted through the best-looking overnight emails, I'm lucky to be able to plan my day around galleries, film screening and desk-drumming along to upcoming records if I'm not away writing a story. It's also my job to be office DJ. This is a sort of stereo-rodeo-whose CD will stay on the longest? It's war.

In London-get dusty in my fashion cupboard. The rest of the time, I'm styling fashion shoots abroad, going to meetings with PRs or running around fashion shows and trade fairs.

Q&A WITH:
Saul Taylor SECTION EDITOR, EDITS >
WHAT DO YOU DO AT MONOCLE ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIC?.
Every day is completely different for me. I spend most of my time on the move, travelling to visit interesting people and place and then frantically writing about them two minutes before deadline at the end of the month back in London.

Q&A WITH:
Tom Morris WRITER/RESEARCHER >
WHAT DO YOU DO AT MONOCLE ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIC?.
A very speedy 10-minute cycle through Regent's Park to the office, coffee, check through morning's emails, sort through that month's stories and line up interviews, work on copy, scan through the blogs and newspapers in lunch break, bat off balmy PR suggestions, an Earl Grey tea at about 16.00, writing, reading, researching, pitching.
