The sophomore album God Put A Rainbow In The Sky was released just four months later in May 2007, the lead single from the album was the song I’m sorry, he’s mine. A song about how she stole her best friends boyfriend just because she wanted him over the night.

She continued to release new albums in record speed when her new album Songs of a Rag Doll was released October 19th 2007 and she had now released three albums within a year. She told Swedish Groove magazine that vacation for her meant going into the studio. The album came with the single Gotta Leave My Troubles Behind which had some success on the Swedish “tracks” charts where the people of Sweden vote for their favorite songs each week.

In 2007 she was also featured on the famous Swedish artist Lars Winnerbäcks lead single PlayOm du lämnade mig nu from his album Daugava. The single became a huge hit and was Nr. 1 on the track charts as well as the singles charts and lead to national recognition for Miss Li.

Rubik - Dada Bandits (2009)

A new album has been released by the Finnish indie band named Rubix. Dada Bandits is the second album of the band and contains 11 tracks. I’m really not into indie music. But if you are enjoy! Rarely has an indie rock band created such fuss all over the Finnish music scene as rubik. Formed in 2002 and already a sold-out mini-album up their sleeve, the band released their debut lp “Bad Conscience Patrol” to much anticipation in March 2007. The album instantly acclaimed critical praise with comparisons to works of Radiohead, Sigur Ros, dEUS et al. Their audience were stunned as well: “Bad Conscience Patrol” debuted number 7 in usually so heavy metal -ridden Fnnish official chart. It also gave them their first hit with the single “City & the Streets” Goji Berries Radiants No Escape Wasteland You Jackal!! Metùo - Toy Shop (2009)

MEtùO is a creative project that was born in december 2007. Multisensory atmospheres (sound-smells-images) take shape and life. Metuo moves around complementary people and energies, with the intention to foster different contents for different context. The word Metùo comes from an ancient greek word and embraces three different meaning: “to be out of it”, “full of inebriation” and “full of love”. The project grounds on Giorgia Angiuli (laptop, acustic guitar, toys, keyboard, voice, smells) and Tommaso Bianchi (artistic production, director of Sonic Lab Studio). Other collaborators are: Amelie Labarthe (vocals in the Ep and designer), Leo Betti, Simona Barbera, Stefano Bernardi, Massimo Ottoni, Silvia Bianchi, Ninca Leece, Autobam, Ether. Hear some words to understand their performance better: “play and pay attention to any kind of object, as long as you see poetry and emotion in it”. The importance of multi-layered aesthetics, the discovery of a chromatic world, maybe illusory, ephemeral, but full of spirit and poetry

Moofish Catfish-Yours To Share (2009)

What the hell a "moofish" is, I've no idea, but I'm certain Moofish Catfish will hook you.

The Stockholm four-piece, signed to Cosy Records is very twee/bedroom recording in essence, but don't run away yet; they're not twee in that annoying, self-pitying way. They just like it soft. Moofish Catfish sounds like a slow-paced, psych-leaning compliment to Swedish compatriots, Envelopes, or a more flesh-out Taken By Trees. They're dripping with Swedish pop aesthetics -- from the cute female vocals to the clean guitar hooks to the jazzy drumming -- but are ultimately more delicate and refined than a lot of what you've heard and what you're used to hearing from the Scandinavian region.

Hey Ocean - It's Easier To Be Somebody Else (2008)

Often described as one of Canada’s best up-and-coming acts, Hey Ocean! is a young band with a remarkable talent for blending various musical styles into a brand of infectious pop that is uniquely their own.

Superb Vocals, remarkable musicianship, and thoughtful lyrics are all showcased by the group’s collective songwriting approach. Together, Ashleigh Ball, David Beckingham, David Vertesi, and Daniel Klenner have created a musical repertoire that cannot be ignored – be it on radio, television or your neighbor’s iPod, Hey Ocean! will soon be everywhere.

Aside from the skill of their music’s delivery, what sets Hey Ocean! apart is the spirited character they bring to the stage. Four mischievous personalities combine to form a dynamic live presence that keeps concertgoers captivated and on their feet. In fact, live performance has been an integral part of what the band calls their “natural growth,” however what began as a very casual musical partnership between friends has in less than four years, morphed into one of Canada’s most successful independent bands.

In 2008, Hey Ocean! unveiled It’s Easier To Be Somebody Else, a fusion of playfully funked up party-pop and thoughtful lyric-driven ballads; introduced to their Canadian fans with no less than three cross-Canada tours. Aspiring to capture the power and intensity of their highly-charged live show in the recording process, the band hooked up with famed indie producer José Miguel Contreras (By Divine Right, Meligrove Band, Lily Frost, The Bicycles).

GREATT!!

Kurt Vile - God Is Saying This To You (2009)

God Is Saying This To You... is a record that begs to be listened to in its entirety. Even though it's apparently cobbled together from various sources in Vile's past, the record's patches of ambient soundscape attach seamlessly to the more traditionally structured songs. At the same time, "traditional" is probably a bit of a stretch for even the most accessible bits of the record. The mixes are peppered with atmospheric sounds, and jump across the stereo spectrum. While some of the guitar work is rhythmic, and possibly even folky, it manages to fuel percussive elements that give the songs a flavor that transcends any possibility of folkiness as soon as it starts.

That flavor is furthered by Vile on the record's many instrumental tracks. His forays into electric guitar undoubtedly recall the qualities of artists that many would not hesitate to call experimental. The final track, "Frip Job", even name checks it's unquestionable influence. These tracks serve not only to illustrate the breadth of Vile's talent, but also to emphasize the subtlety with which Vile manages to inject his experimental bent into the album's non-instrumental tracks.

At the end of the day, it is truly that non-instrumental songwriting that manages to make this record so very, very enjoyable. While the experimental elements give the record an uncanny uniqueness and character, the songwriting allows that uniqueness to exist without seeming frivolous or empty. Vile has an unquestionable gift for melody, and delivers lyrics that convey a certain inherent melancholy. At the same time, they offer the sense of an individual who has transcended that melancholy and is observing from an objective perch. [From www.hippiesaredead.com]

El Perro Del Mar-Love Is Not Pop EP (2009)

El Perro Del Mar was founded in the end of 2003 around the idea and need of making music on terms of one's own. Behind the alter-ego is the sole member Sarah. El Perro Del Mar started out as an mp3-artist and in spring 2004 the first cdr-ep 'Baby, I've been in a bad place' was released by the Swedish label Hybris. The two cdr-ep:s, 'I've got good news' and 'Holiday Special', were released shortly thereafter. In late 2004 the first official ep 'What's new? El Perro Del Mar!' was released, including the the songs 'I can't talk about it', 'This Loneliness' and 'It's all good'. Also around this time, El Perro Del Mar contributed with the song 'Shake it off' on a joint and very limited split single released by friend Jens Lekman. In May 2005 all the previous unofficial and official releases were gathered to form the compilation album 'Look! It's El Perro Del Mar!'. Later that year the ep 'God Knows (You Gotta Give to Get)' was released. During spring 2006 a reworked version of the debut album was released in the U.K. and Europe by British label Memphis Industries/COOP. By the end of 2006 the self-titled album was released in the U.S. as well as in Australia/New Zealand.

In early 2007 El Perro Del Mar found a new home on Licking Fingers, the Concretes very own label. During the spring and summer of 2007 the work on the second album 'From the Valley to the Stars' began. The recordings were done in Sarah's hometown Gothenburg, Sweden. 'From the Valley to the Stars' was released in Scandinavia in February 2008. The album was released in the U.K. and the rest Europe as well as in the U.S. and Australia/New Zealand that same spring and summer.

El Perro Del Mar just finished the work on the mini-album 'Love Is Not Pop' to be released on the 1st of April. The album was produced by El Perro Del Mar and Rasmus Hägg from the Gothenburgian duo Studio. The single 'Change Of Heart' is now up for listen.

"The performance of elenette plays upon the distinction between the anatomy of the performer and the gender that is being performed. But we are actually in the presence of three contingent dimensions of significant corporeality: anatomical sex, gender identity, and gender performance. If the anatomy of the performer is already distinct from the gender of the performer, and both of those are distinct from the gender of the performance, then the performance suggests a dissonance not only between sex and performance, but sex and gender, and gender and performance. As much as elenette creates a unified picture of ‘man’ (what its critics often oppose), it also reveals the distinctness of those aspects of gendered experience which are falsely naturalized as a unity through the regulatory fiction of heterosexual coherence. In imitating gender, elenette implicitly reveals the imitative structure of gender itself.”

Ai Aso - Aida (2009)

“Document of a live show by the most gorgeously acid folk-esque of Japan’s female singer-songwriters. A piece of dazed, limpid dream-beauty, with a tremulous, wavering intensity all its own. Since recording her first demo cassette in 1997, Ai Aso has released two full studio albums. She has connections with the cream of the Tokyo psychedelic underground — You Ishihara (of White Heaven and The Stars) produced her albums; Michio Kurihara, Wata (of Boris), and Chiyo Kamekawa (of The Stars and Yura Yura Teikoku) have played on them. Includes a guest appearance by Go Hirano on piano. Six tracks, thirty-six minutes. Booklet includes lyrics and liner-notes in English and Japanese.” – Alan Cummings

Peter Von Poehl - May Day (2009)

For the traveller without a homeland or a fixed identity, music can provide sweet consolation offering the chance to adopt a country based not in geography but the imagination, a self-created world. On Peter von Poehl s first album, Going to Where the Tea Trees Are, the Swedish traveller who for many years has split his life between Malm Berlin and Paris, conjured up the vague sense of discomfort that can accompany this nomadic life one spent floating between different landscapes
languages and cultures. The album saw him create a universe all his own, a silky universe weaved with the help of the golden threads of melody, delicate sonic textures, and finely embroidered orchestral motifs embroidered. Going to was a cosy cocoon, a home-sweet-home in which this eternal foreigner, a songwriter without a musical family (neither folk nor pop nor rock) finally found a way to feel at home. The whole album was centred on virtually the same theme, he remembers, so much so that that directed all the musical choices the melodies the arrangements, the general atmosphere. It was a very private record, one I made at my own speed in my corner, without really taking into account what was going on in the outside world. The record allowed me to deal with all the questions I had
about my identity, which no longer seem so critical today.

Peter von Poehl s exile blues has been cured thanks to his music, which has built him a roof under which he has been able to cultivate a well-adjusted sensibility. Not that he s become a homebody his constant touring over the past few years has seen him regularly leave his lair but he has understood that it s only good to hide away if you then allow yourself the freedom to escape at a moment s notice to (re)discover the world. May Day embodies the jubilation of a man who, while discovering the edges of his own universe, has not been afraid to throw open the windows of his inspiration. May Day is a constant, voluptuous back-and-forth between the desire for an interior world and that of projecting oneself out into the exterior. You feel it immediately with Parliament a song whipped up by a wildly beating rhythm section and horns played with gusto. All von Poehl s virtues are on show: his classically elegant sense of melody, his ideally dosed melanges of instruments, his unique vocal touch, and his intensely personal way of mixing together words and sound. Yet the process through which all this is revealed is different, quite simply because a breath of fresh air has blown through Peter von Poehl s music, which has become less hermetically sealed.

The whole album is moved by new vibrations, which increase the songs intensity, even if they’ve once again been made by hand. Just like Going to Where
the Tea Trees Are, the majority of May Day was put together in the middle of the Swedish countryside in Christoffer Lundquist s marvellous studio. (A
longtime friend and collaborator, Lundquist is once again credited as co-producer.) The arrangements on May Day are bursting with discoveries you just know
were spontaneous, specific moments that grew organically out of the sessions. The tight groove of Carrier Pigeon, the irresistible pop whirlpool of Moonshot Falls, the rough blueprints of Dust in Heaven and Near the End of the World or the knowing layering of instruments in the knock-out Elisabeth all share the same sense of discovery and the same taste for play, which stretch across all the parts of von Poehl s unclassifiable songwriting. Utterly resistant to gratuitous stylistic devices from the arrangements to the style, the rhythms to the lyrics everything on May Day is there to benefit a musicality free of harmful gimmicks.

Yellow Tricycle - A lovers prayer (2009)

Damien Saez is a French born singer songwriter. He leads the group ‘Saez’. While he mostly sings in French, some songs contain English lyrics.

His songs are politically charged combination of acoustic and electric guitar and voice, dance and psychodaelic rock. He is mostly known for the song “Jeune et Con” which did exceptionally well in the french charts.

He has published numerous songs for free, including the song ‘Fils de France’ which was written and recorded in just 8 hours to protest against the lack of young people voting in the presidential elections, where a right wing candidate, Jean-Marie Le Pen, won a huge proportion of the popular vote.

Other notable facts about Damien Saez are his lack of TV appearances (appeared once at “Les Victoires de la Musique” but he didn’t sing the song he was meant to sing, and critisized rudely television and the consumers society with the song “solution” mixed with “Jeune et Con” and “Thank You” (by Dido), he also has no official website, or news source. Various fan sites exist and follow him religiously.

His concerts are emotionally charged, with lots of audience participation. In true rocker style, he chain smokes on stage, and is often refered to as the continuation of French rock,a modern day Serge Gainsbourg.

He has published a book of poems entitled ‘A Ton Nom’, and has participated in many movements dedicated to the preservation of French music. Notably singing the song ‘La priere’ on the George Brassens tribute album.

He is acclaimed by many as a controversial artist, especially with titles such as ‘God Blesse (America)’ which can be taken in two meanings depending which language you say it in (God Bless America, or God Hurts America) He has also shown amazing compassion with a series of dedicated songs to the WTC attacks in 2001, with the song titled WTC, which is an emotionally charged classical piece.

La Bien Querida - Romancero (2009)

of the most visited new artist pages). LA BIEN QUERIDA, which is to say, Ana Fernández-Villaverde, turned to David Rodríguez (BEEF) to record her debut (7 songs from the demo and 5 new ones), attracted to him for the marvelous creativity of his solo project LA ESTRELLA DE DAVID. Ana wanted to domesticate David’s stratospheric arrangements and cubist production toward clean sounds that fit better with the friendly environment of her beautiful songs. And she really did it. David’s inventive magic and Ana’s sweet melodies meld together to make an exclusive space in which flamenco, Arabian music, rancheras and even techno mix. They didn’t hold back at all (they work with the ORQUESTA ARAB DE BARCELONA, a flamenco guitarist, even Joe Crepúsculo on vocals). But those are only the colors of the songs, which do not distract from their principal component: a marvelous collection of exciting vocal melodies, with an overwhelming beauty and interesting lyrics that strip down relationships and bare feelings with moving sincerity. The album follows the harmonic line of LOS PLANETAS, the charming sweetness of LA BUENA VIDA and the contagious romanticism of FAMILY, but really it creates a unique space. Maybe the clearest parallel can be drawn with THE MAGNETIC FIELD’s monumental “69 Love Songs”, with songs that appear simple on the surface but have a highly defined character and artistic personality that escapes all styles, or maybe it brings them all together without us realizing it. And, as on “69 Love Songs”, what is truly important is the emotion that the songs transmit. “Corpus Christi”, “De Momento Abril”, “Santa Fe”, “El Zoo Absoluto”, “Bendita”, “7 Medidas de Seguridad”… it’s a chilling repertoire that can be enjoyed as much in the emotion-flooded open heart as in the detail-oriented head, paying attention to the musical details that fill the production. It is, without a doubt, a landmark album.

AWESOME

Lady Of The Sunshine - Smoking Gun (2009)

Lady Of The Sunshine is Angus Stone’s (from Angus & Julia Stone) solo project. ‘White Rose Parade’ is the first single from the album and it can be heard on myspace.

Angus Stone reveals a darker more contemplative side on the brooding rhythm and blues of his first solo album ‘SMOKING GUN’, out April 2009.

Angus wrote, sang and played electric and acoustic guitar on the album of which he co-produced with his accomplice ‘Finn’ (Govinda Doyle) on drums and bass. The album was recorded over 6 weeks throughout 2008 in an old water tank in the scorching hills of North QLD, Australia. Finn’s wife would cook supper for them and her new born baby whilst they worked till the young hours of dawn.

“I’ve been skipping off in between tours for about a year now to shake my head of these songs” explains Angus. Every one of the emotions in your head has it’s own voice and this album is what became of them’.

Smoking Gun sees Angus crawl into the alt music underground world, embracing a myriad of themes, emotions and genres that allowed Angus the freedom to take a simple idea for each song and let it take whatever trip it lead him on.

FINALLY!!

Blue Roses - Blue Roses (2009)

Blue Roses is the musical project of Laura Groves, previously known just as Laura Groves.

Laura Groves lives in the town of Shipley, United Kingdom. Here she writes songs for various instruments, some of which she can play and some of which she can’t (but tries to anyway), and watches the interesting folk go by. Laura’s live gigs are played with guitar and piano, and have included appearances with Final Fantasy, Jeremy Warmsley, Jeffrey Lewis and Tilly and the Wall. Projects include a contribution to the “50minutes” charity compilation alongside artists such as Daniel Johnston, Ladyfuzz and Emmy the Great. More recently she has released her second single “Doubtful Comforts” via Salvia/XL Records. Currently, she is recording her debut album due to be released in spring 2009.

Groves changed her name in November 2008, writing in her MySpace blog “As I’ve been recording and working on new things throughout the year I feel like I’m in a different place musically to when I started out, so it seemed appropriate to become something new”.

VERY NICE!!

Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - V.S Children (2009)

Owen Ashworth returns as Casiotone For The Painfully Alone on Vs Children, another collection of slow-burning lo-fi tunes that trudge through the muck of interpersonal relationships, family troubles, and modern city living.
2006's Etiquette found Ashworth moving toward a warmer sound with more live instrumentation and more fidelity than earlier recordings. Vs Children takes things a tiny step further, replacing sullen drones with a bouncy keyboard every once in a while.

MY FAV!!

Patrick Pleau - Hype-moi (2009)

From the beautiful city of Montreal comes a new artist called Patric Pleau. Patric Pleau is an Indie Pop artist whose sound is comparable of those rock bands of the 70's, I don't know if its because he is singing in french or is just the music, ether way the music is superb. He send us his latest album called "Hype-moi" to share it with you all, but you can show him some love at his myspace page, hopefully his lyrics are as good as they sound.

Patrick Pleau’s claim to fame came in 2007 along with his band Plajia and the release Beautiful Explosion; an album for which Patrick wrote the majority of the lyrics and music. Beautiful Explosion was nominated in 2008 for Archambault’s ‘Grand Prix de la relève’ (with fellow nomeniees : Tricot Machine, Samian, Alfa Rococo, Gaële, Le Husky & Bruno Marcil).

Hype-Moi, Patrick’s first solo project produced by Bob & Bill (Guy Dubuc and Marc Lessard) ranges from urban to oneiric themes. Several songs also make light of his “Geek / Internet” persona; tongue-in-cheek references to his past reputations. Raised in a musical environment (Patrick’s father was a DJ), it is with this first francophone release that he refined his lyrical stylings which he describes as “Peter Pan-like controlled naiveté” with songs written between 2002 and 2008 (including previously unreleased tracks from Plajia). Hype-Moi could be considered as the logical follow-up to Beautiful Explosion, with more of a masterful production and craftier songs (as shown by its first radio-single; Bacolophobe).

Though seemingly provocative, the album’s title Hype-Moi (Hype-Me) is a humorous invitation — one that should not be taken as a direct assault against critics but might recommend a different approach with which to showcase up-and-coming artists. Further following the example set by Beautiful Explosion, on Hype-Moi Patrick carefully utilizes sonic landscapes of popular 70s instruments such as Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer keys.

In addition to the first single, absurd/cryptic video shorts will be released in the following weeks to promote the album.

Nice!Nice!Nice!Nice!!
