New Modern Classic...Spring Striped

Albam
Striped Tees

Nope, not done with stripes yet. These Albam T shirts look just about right for the summer. The red and navy are the best two colors to stripe things with, I really like the color, and their leather tag looks quite nice - and of course very subtle. I still haven’t seen the brand stateside but only heard good things from a number of critical Londoners. The brand has been pushing forward with a series of great shoe projects lately, but let us not forget the simple things that can really round out a brand and their success. It’s easy to make one or two great pieces, but to have a full collection through, where even the T shirts have been looked after, it doesn’t happen enough.

Now available at Oi Polloi and Albam

Robert Geller
Striped Sweats

Sweat pants have started to creep into actually being a stylish element and potentially accepted in social public settings. As Jake Davis mention however, they are something they can easily been worn terribly and you can look quite bad. The heathered grey sweat pant is surely the easiest transition into the look, but how about these striped sweats from Robert Geller? The prison edition look has been making a bit of an appearance this season through some of Daiki’s work with Woolrish Woolen Mills, and I haven’t minded what I’ve seen. I think the striped sweat pant can be great for playing around in a photo shoot, but I’m yet to see a legitimate look that you can wear these with for a casual day in town. Maybe I’m just a bit tired and not thinking clearly, but I still can’t think of something myself as I write this. I’d be interested to hear if anybody has a magic solution for these pants, or are they a lost aspiration?

Visvim’s Striped Giza Cotton

My desire for some more stripes doesn’t seem to be going away as these simple T shirts by Visvim are looking particularly appealing. I know, they make for a very exciting blog post, but sometimes it’s the most simple (and expensive) items that are the most perfect. Visvim’s summer color palette is one of the nicest, most balanced and best used this spring between their stripes and color blocking. I am usually a fan of pretty much anything in their Giza cotton as it’s soft feel makes you never want to take it off. I actually have a long sleeve light sweater that looks quite similar by Visvim and I recently realized I haven’t been wearing it nearly enough.

The T shirt version would be nice to have as things continue to warm up. An easy wear with some casual chinos or shorts, deck shoes or moccasins - bucket hat optional.

Stevenson Overall
Tote

After spending some time in Mister Freedom and RRL in LA, I feel like I have seen 100 incredibly cool vintage looking, navy inspired tote bags - although the ones at Mister Freedom probably did spend time in the navy. No matter how many I see, how many I touch and how many I don’t buy because of their price, I do love them a lot. The natural canvas color with navy blue and bridal leather is pretty damn hard to beat. This version by Stevenson Overall is one of the coolest in the genre. The sea washed navy color looks great and is perfectly complimented by the dark brown leather. I like how it has the two options for carrying the bag as well, plus the leather buckle for some closure. I would probably try not to match the bag to a nice stripped Saint James sweater, but since I don’t have one, I could wear it with a one color oxford easily and often.

Rogues Gallery Canvas Boat Bag

Rogues Gallery is known for their excellent boat bags. They bring them back this season, made out of used sailing canvas, therefore featuring an authentic distressed look. Rogues Gallery adds premium leather handles and a few more details too it to round it up. The new Spring/Summer 2009 Rogues Gallery Canvas Boat Bag is now available from Tres Bien Shop.
